This study comes at a time when most primary care physicians are pressured to see a large number of patients each day, and thus, do less for each individual patient. It is no secret that busy, and often overwhelmed, primary care physicians often refer to other healthcare providers instead of taking the time to handle the problem themselves.

This also allows us to offer a broad range of services and to tackle the tougher problems. Of course, when appropriate we refer our patients to medical specialists. However, we have the time to make smart decisions about when to refer for specialty care and what physicians we send our patients to.
